What Should I Do With...?
Starting October 1, 2015, events that serve food and drink may have to comply with a new State and County law to provide recycling.
Yard Trim Collection
Curbside yard trim collection has ended for the season (the last day was Friday, January 15). Residents in the Feed The Green Bin areas will receive yard trim/food scrap collection year-round. Please be advised that free paper bags are no longer available at the Alpha Ridge Landfill (ARL). When curbside yard trim collection resumes on April 1, residents will be able to pick up free paper bags from ARL (10 per family, per day, while supplies last). In the meantime, there are many local and online retailers that carry paper bags. If you don't see paper bags at your favorite grocery or hardware store, ask for them!
As of January 1, 2016, all residents with curbside yard trim service will have made the transition to plastic bag free collection. Howard County reminds residents to bundle material, or use paper bags and reusable containers for yard trim collection.
