"Pedestrian and Bicyclist Selection Locations Study" Public Meeting
The Department of Planning & Zoning and Toole Design Group will host two public meetings to present the initial findings for the “Pedestrian and Bicyclist Selection Locations Study” and receive review and comment from the public on pedestrian and bicyclist activity. The first meeting, to be held on Monday, August 2, will discuss US Route 1 and Snowden River Parkway. An interpreter for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing will be available, if requested, seven days prior to the event. County Executive Ulman's Open Public Forum
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman invites residents to join him for his fourth annual public forum where residents will have an opportunity to ask him questions, make comments or offer suggestions on any topic they choose. Executive Ulman will be joined by County department heads for this important public dialogue. Howard County Flood Mitigation Plan Follow-Up Meeting
The Howard County Department of Public Works will hold a follow-up public meeting to present a draft Flood Mitigation Plan and mitigation actions for public review and input. The meeting will be held at the Gateway Building to allow residents throughout the county to attend. Residents who have an interest in properties located in hazard-prone areas, or those who would be affected by potential regulatory changes are encouraged to attend.

Labor Day Holiday
All County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, library branches and the landfill will be closed on Monday, September 6 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Library branches will also be closed on Sunday, September 5. There will be no trash or recycling collection; those whose pick-up day is Monday, should refer to the Bureau of Environmental Services holiday "slide" schedule. All parking regulations and parking fees will be in effect. Howard Transit and HT Ride will be limited to the Brown, Orange and Red Express Routes Sunday schedules on Monday, September 6; to obtain Howard Transit's complete holiday schedule, call 1-800-270-9553. Police, Fire and the 9-1-1 Center remain open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies, call 9-1-1; for non-emergency Police matters, call (410) 313-2200.
