COUNTY BUREAU OF HIGHWAYS - MOWING PROGRAMS

The Bureau has six large tractors and two boom tractors all with rough cut flail blades for mowing where needed along roads.  Mowing is kept to a minimum for environmental and budgetary concerns and limited to that needed to maintain drainage swales, to maintain sight distance and to prevent brush from encroaching on the roadway. One cycle of mowing takes about four weeks to complete and we mow a minimum of 3 times per year.

The property owner is responsible for maintaining any turf grass along the roadside frontage in accordance with the County Code.

The Bureau mows county owned storm water management ponds once per year in accordance with state requirements.
