Friday, November 21

Special Events Mistletoe and Moonlight Shopping - 6 to 9 PM. All ages. Bring your family out to enjoy the Center's exhibits and live music while you shop for the perfect gift. Robinson annual pass holders receive a 15% discount on all purchases during this event. Admission to the Center is free during this event.

 

Saturday, December 13

Special Events Nature NEW! Happy Holi-Day Camp/Parent's Day Out to Shop - 9 AM to Noon (morning session); 1 to 4 PM (afternoon session); Noon to 1 PM (supervised lunch and movie). 6 to 12 years. Drop your children off at Robinson to make homemade holiday gifts and enjoy nature presentations while you head to the Mall in Columbia (less than 4 miles from the Center) for kid-free holiday shopping. $30 per session; $5 to add supervised lunch and movie. Saturday, January 24

Special Events Astronomy History  Scope out the Night Sky - 6:30 to 9:30 PM. Ages 8 years and up. The Maryland Science Center and Robinson jointly present this exciting family-focused astronomy event. Enjoy a planetarium presentation, build your very own GalileoScope (a functional telescope for night sky viewing; $50 value), hold a meteorite and view the stars through telescopes (weather-permitting). $24 per family (up to five members). Each family receives a telescope, a tripod and a star map. This program is supported through a grant from the Howard County Arts Council. Click here to see pictures from the last event. Sunday, January 25

Special Events Astronomy Nature NEW! Frozen Fest - 1 to 4 PM. All ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Rescue your family from "cabin fever" by coming out to make your own ice cream, create tracks in the snow and take a guided winter hike on outdoor trails. Get cozy in live animal presentations and under the planetarium dome while watching a feature movie. Explore winter science through experiments and make a fun winter craft to take home. Saturday, February 14

Special Events Nature NEW! Valentine's Day Truffle-Making and Wine-Tasting - 2 to 4 PM. Ages 21 years and up. Bring your friend, your sweetheart or your awesome self out to enjoy this unique, eco-friendly Valentine's Day experience in which you will hand-roll chocolate truffles and enjoy tasting wines from a local vineyard while learning about the sustainable practices used to create their tasty varietals. $20 per person or $35 per couple. Each participant takes home 10 truffles. Thanks to Whole Foods Market in Columbia for making this event a success.

 

Sunday, February 22

Special Events History Nature Bay Day - 1 to 4 PM . All ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Celebrate the Chesapeake Bay through food, presentations and fun activities. Learn about Howard County's role in protecting the Bay and discover the fascinating creatures - from oysters to horseshoe crabs - that we help protect through our efforts to protect Howard County waterways.
