Friday, September 12

 Special Events Leave your Mark! Art Tile Project - 10 - 11:30 AM. Ages 3 years and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. You and/or your child create original art work for a tile which will be installed inside the Center's main building. Proceeds support Friends of the Nature Center projects, including scholarships for Title 1 school field trips and an outdoor nature play space at the Nature Center. 1 tile for $35 or 3 tiles for $100. Sunday, September 21

Special Events  Nature  Astronomy  History Robinson Nature Center Anniversary Open House - Noon to 5 PM. All Ages. Come celebrate the Nature Center's 3rd birthday with live animal presentations, guided nature walks, face painting, crafts and more. No registration necessary. All activities are FREE. Friday, September 26

Special Events  Nature  Astronomy NEW! Nature Center OVERNIGHT! - 6 PM on Sept 26 to 9 AM on Sept 27. Girls, ages 9 to 12 years. Join us for an after-dark adventure including a night hike, campfire and snack, planetarium movie and more with your best friends at the Nature Center. Wake up to a yummy breakfast and take-home memento. Led by certified camp education staff. For details, or to register, click here. $70 for members, $85 for non-members.


Sunday, September 28

Special Events  Nature  Astronomy  History Robinson Nature Center Open house for Teachers - 2 to 4 PM. All ages. If you are a teacher, bring your family to the nature center and enjoy fun activities while discovering the new field experiences being offered at Robinson this year for your students. New additions include astronomy-based and water-focused field trips, field trips for early childhood (2 to 4 years with a parent) and secondary science field trips that include service learning and STEM components. No registration necessary, but you must present your teacher ID or other form of teacher verification for complimentary admission for your and your family. Sunday, October 5

Special Events History  NEW! Howard County Heritage Day - Noon to 4 PM. All ages . Take a trip back in time with activities, games, demonstrations and crafts. From calligraphy and weaving to Native American tool-making and photo-ops in period costumes, you can have fun while discovering Howard County's past. Saturday, October 11

Special Events Nature NEW! Streams to Seas Festival - 10 AM to 3 PM. All ages. The National Aquarium and Robinson Nature Center jointly present this exciting, family-focused event in which you can meet aquatic life, take guided hikes to the river, learn how your family can adopt-a-stream, see the premier of a new full-dome film in our NatureSphere theater and complete a festival "passport" for your chance to win free passes. The first 20 families to arrive receive a free rain barrel. Click here for a full schedule of events. Free with daily admission or Robinson annual pass.


Saturday, October 25

Special Events Nature Trick or Treat Among the Trees - 4 to 6:45 PM. Ages 5 years and up with an adult. Celebrate Halloween with a trick-or-treating adventure along the trails. Learn about neat fall happenings while collecting healthy treats for your child at each stop. See pictures from last year's event by clicking here. $7 per child; $5 per adult.  Click on one of the sessions below to register. Please arrive a few minutes prior to your start time as your session will leave promptly for the adventure along the trail. Program lasts approximately 1 hour and a half.

Celebrate Halloween with a stroller-friendly trick-or-treating adventure through our exhibits and along paved trails. Learn about neat fall happenings while collecting healthy treats for your little one at each stop. $7 per child (2 years and up), $5 per adult; free under 2 years old. Saturday, November 1

Special Events Astronomy History Scope Out the Night Sky - 6:30 to 9:30 PM. Ages 8 years and up. Join the Maryland Science Center and Robinson Nature Center for an incredible opportunity to build your family's own telescope, handle meteorites billions of years old, see a planetarium show and view celestial objects through high-powered telescopes (weather-dependent). $24 per family (up to five family members). Sunday, November 2

Special Events NatureNEW! Pumpkin' Chunkin' - 2 to 3:30 PM. All ages. Watch as local high school STEM clubs compete using catapults they designed to launch old pumpkins towards targets in the woods. No registration necessary to watch. For those interested in entering a team in the competition, click here.


Friday, November 21

Special Events Mistletoe and Moonlight Shopping - 6 to 9 PM. All ages. Bring your family out to enjoy the Center's exhibits and live music while you shop for the perfect gift. Robinson annual pass holders receive a 15% discount on all purchases during this event. Admission to the Center is free during this event.


Saturday, December 13

Special Events Nature NEW! Happy Holi-Day Camp/Parent's Day Out to Shop - 9 AM to Noon (morning session); 1 to 4 PM (afternoon session); Noon to 1 PM (supervised lunch and movie). 6 to 12 years. Drop your children off at Robinson to make homemade holiday gifts and enjoy nature presentations while you head to the Mall in Columbia (less than 4 miles from the Center) for kid-free holiday shopping. $30 per session; $5 to add supervised lunch and movie.
