Historic Places to Visit
Baldwin Commons
This is reminiscent of an old fashioned village green. It is located next to Carroll Baldwin Hall, built in 1922 by the Savage Manufacturing Company as a community hall.
Bollman Truss Bridge
The bridge was built in 1869 and moved to Savage in 1887. It is the last remaining bridge of its type.
Savage Mill
The mill is a renovated cotton mill built in the 1800's and features arts, crafts, antiques, historical displays, restaurants, and specialty shops.
Hiking Trails
Historic Mill Trail
This trail is a .8 mile trail, level enough for strollers and bicycles, beginning at Bollman Truss Bridge and ending a few hundred feet past the stone dam abutments near the Middle and Little Patuxent rivers.
Wincopin Neck Trails
These are natural surface trails with some steep slopes. Each segment is marked with a corresponding color blaze to help you find your way.
Savage Loop Trail
The Trail is 1.4 miles with some rocky, downhill terrain. It follows the Little Patuxent River. If you travel North you will connect with the Patuxent Branch Trail. If you travel South you will end up by the mill race along the Middle Patuxent River at Savage Mill.
Natural Areas
Please do not feed the wildlife. The park's natural habitat provides plenty of food for birds, waterfowl and wildlife to eat, and their digestive systems are not designed for a human's food. If they become dependent upon being fed, they become less able to feed themselves and multiply in an area that may not support their population. Such overcrowding causes destruction of habitat, pollution of the lake, and, ultimately, disease and starvation.

Things to Remember
Help to keep your parks beautiful -- please take your trash and recyclable items home. Take only pictures and leave only footprints.
Dog droppings may attract disease-harboring pests, and even a friendly dog can scare the birds, wildlife and park visitors. Clean up after your dog and keep it leashed; it's the law.
All of our parks are inhabited by a wide variety of wildlife such as deer, snakes, fish, rabbits, insects and birds. Please do not disturb them; remember, this is their home.

Flora & Fauna
We are grateful for the years of service and the countless hours that Jo and Bob Solem have contributed to the Howard County Bird Club. Their contribution has been a valuable asset in the gathering of data and documentation of the numerous species of flora and fauna found in our county. Click on the link below for the species list they developed for this park.
