Police Cadet

The Police Cadet is a pre-entry level position within the Police Department. The Cadet will assist Police Officers and members of the public with non-criminal incidents and provide a support function for the various divisions of the police department. The Police Cadet is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the dynamics of a career in law enforcement. A Cadet is required to wear a uniform, drive a marked Cadet vehicle, and work on a rotational basis.

Some typical functions include, but are not limited to:

• Assistance with clerical and communications functions
• Presentation of programs to the public
• Transportation of evidence to various state and federal agencies
• Provide personnel support for special events within the County.

Qualifications

The eligiblity requirements for Police Cadet are:

• U.S. Citizen
• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Possess a valid driver's license at time of hire
• Must have a clear police record as determined by a comprehensive polygraph exam and background investigation.

The selection process is a thorough review of all potential candidates to ensure that the most qualified are selected. Applicants must successfully complete each of the following :

• Written Examination
• Personal History Questionnaire
• Oral Interview
• Polygraph Examination
