Commission on Aging Seeks Nominees for Annual Achievement Awards Program
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Commission on Aging has announced that they are accepting nominations for the Commission’s annual Achievement Awards Program. The awards recognize outstanding achievement by individuals, organizations and businesses that exemplify the Commission’s mission to promote successful aging in Howard County. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 1.
“The Commission on Aging started this program three years ago so that we can pay tribute to those who have made a difference in our community and helped enhance the quality of life for older adults in Howard County,” said County Executive Ken Ulman. “Please take a moment and nominate an individual you believe has gone that extra mile, a business or community group that has found a way to fill a need in our community.”
The categories for nominations include: Individual Achievement Awards – Civic Engagement, Excellence in the Arts, Leadership in Education; and an Organizational Award –Benchmark Award for Businesses. In addition, outstanding nominees in any category will be considered for the Phyllis Madachy Legacy Award.
Nominees must live, work or do business in Howard County and must demonstrate exceptional contributions to the lives of County residents. Nominators are asked to provide details of how the nominee meets the award criteria and describe or list achievements specific to the award category.

Award winners will be recognized during Older American’s Month at a celebration on May 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way in Columbia.
