| Direct monetary- You have the potential to earn on average $8,712 per acre which is entered into the Private Forest Conservation Easement program. Please see the payment section of this brochure for more details. Please keep in mind that these amounts are estimates. Actual figures may be more or less. Indirect monetary- Planting trees on your property can not only increase you property value through landscaping, but by helping you save on heating and cooling bills. During the winter trees act as a windbreak to help you insulate your house. Trees also provide shade during the summer so you can use your air conditioning system less often.
Privacy- Forests provide a barrier of both sight and sound. They can help lessen the noise coming from a nearby road as well as provide privacy from neighboring properties.

Aesthetics- Often overlooked is the aesthetic value of our forests. You can enjoy vibrant shades of green and beautiful flowers during the spring and summer and marvel at the leaves changing color throughout autumn.
Recreational opportunities- There are many recreational opportunities to take advantage of in the forest. Hiking, camping, bird watching and photography are just a few.
Legacy- Let us not forget that our generation is here for only a short time. It is imperative that we manage our forested lands to ensure there long-term viability for generations to come.
