How can I become a licensed Family Child Care Provider?

To become a child care provider you must attend a required 3 hour orientation sponsored by Maryland State Department of Education's Office of Child Care. Please contact the Office of Child Care at 410-750-8771 to register for this required orientation. All providers are then required to complete a 24-hour Initial Training for Family Child Care Providers Series, SIDS, a 6-hour Emergency Preparedness (Project Security Blanket), Including All Children and the ADA, Supporting Breastfeeding in Child Care, Medication Administration,  as well as CPR & First Aid.  A criminal background check is also required of each provider and person 18 years and older residing in the provider's home.
