Office of Environmental Sustainability
The Howard County Office of Environmental Sustainability aims to protect and enhance natural resources and the quality of life in our community through the conservation, preservation, and restoration of our land, air, and water, guided by the principles of science, ingenuity, sustainability, and stewardship.
Originally proposed by the Commission on the Environment and Sustainability and later created by Executive Ulman with approval by the County Council, the Office is the state’s oldest office of sustainability and works to coordinate efforts throughout other Howard County Departments, governments through out the state and region, and community institutions.
