    Expect delays at the Alpha Ridge Landfill, as the transfer station will be closed for floor repairs. Temporary traffic patterns will direct trailers and dumping vehicles to the landfill face. The Residents’ Convenience Center will be open. Wood and Yardwaste disposal will not be affected.


Monday, September 6, 2010 - Labor Day

    All trash, recycling and yardwaste collections will slide and be made one day later this week. For example, if your normal trash day is Monday and recycling is Thursday; during Labor Day week your trash will be collected on Tuesday and recycling will be collected on Friday.

    The Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed Monday, September 6th.

    National Medication Disposal Program
    10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Bring unwanted prescription medication to the Northern District Police Station (3410 Courthouse Dr), the Southern District Police Station (11226 Scaggsville Rd) or the Laurel Police Station (811 Fifth St). For more information and additional collection locations: click here.

Monday, October 11, 2010 - Columbus Day

    There will be normal trash, recycling and yardwaste collection the week of Columbus Day, October 11th-15th.

    The Alpha Ridge Landfill will be open Monday, October 11th.

Saturday, October 16, 2010 - Shredding Event

    What: Howard County residents can bring up to 3 bags or boxes of paper to be shredded on-site

    When: October 16, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (rain or shine)

    Where: the Long Gate Park & Ride (Route 100 and Long Gate Parkway)
