Throughout Howard County are many historic places in regards to the Civil War. The State of Maryland was divided between the North and the South during this war. There is a designated “Maryland Civil War Trail” that runs through Howard County. Colorful signs with bugles tell you that you are at one of these sites. It is easy to drive from one to another.
