Jen Terrasa

Councilwoman Jennifer Terrasa, a resident of Howard County for more than 30 years, is deeply rooted in the community and genuinely committed to its future. Elected to the County Council in 2006, Jen previously had served the community in a number of roles. She was a community advocate, president of her homeowner’s association, vice-chair and member of the Kings Contrivance Village Board, and member of the Howard County Planning Board.

Jen was appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley to the Board of Directors of the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) in 2007. In June 2008, Governor O’Malley appointed her to the Student Physical Fitness Task Force. She also serves as the Council’s legislative representative to the Maryland Association of Counties.

Jen is a graduate of Oakland Mills High School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Maryland at College Park, and she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where she was an editor of the Law Review. She interned with the Howard County Office of Law and Maryland Attorney General’s office. Before being elected to the Howard County Council, she worked for The Women’s Law Center of Maryland and taught at the University of Baltimore Law School.

Jen is the proud mother of three children, Tony, Kelsey and Joey. She is delighted to raise her children in Howard County, where they can experience a vibrant quality of life in a diverse community.
