FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE If you are experiencing a problem involving a consumer transaction, the Office of Consumer Affairs may be able to help you. To begin the process, complete our OCA Complaint Form (also available by calling our office at 410-313-6420) and send it to: Office of Consumer Affairs When filing a complaint, please include copies (not originals) of any contracts, receipts, or other documents that contain important information about your complaint. Upon receipt, we will review your complaint to ensure that it falls within the geographic and statutory jurisdiction of our office. The Office of Consumer Affairs can help resolve disputes involving the sale or lease of goods and services or the extension of credit in Howard County, that are primarily used for personal, household or family purposes. If your complaint falls under the jurisdiction of another local, state or federal government agency, we will forward your complaint to that agency and notify you of the referral. The Office of Consumer Affairs does not provide legal advice and cannot act as your attorney. If we are unable to resolve your complaint, you may wish to consult a private attorney or consider filing suit in Small Claims Court.
