Welcome to the Howard County Office of Consumer Affairs, your advocates in matters involving disputes between consumers and merchants in Howard County.

The Office of Consumer Affairs:

• Mediates disputes that arise between consumers and merchants doing merchants in Howard County, Maryland.

• Investigates marketplace practices that may be unfair or deceptive.

• Provides information and educational programs to help consumers make smart purchasing decisions and avoid scams and other illegal practices.

• Regulates Solicitors and Peddlers who make door-to-door and side of the road sales.

• Regulates “Trespass Tow” operators who tow vehicles from private property without the permission of vehicle owners.
