Election Judges

To become a paid Election Judge you must be a registered voter in the state of Maryland. You may call the Board of Elections for consideration. You must be able to withstand at least a 16 hour day of work and read, write, speak, and understand the English language. You must attend a mandatory training session and be willing to follow instructions concerning election laws and the overall duties of staffing a polling place.

We Need You

The Howard County Board of Elections is seeking motivated people, who can endure long hours (6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.), to work as Election Judges for the upcoming 2010 elections. You can earn $165 as a Check-in, Unit, Provisional or Greeting Judge or $220 as a Chief Judge, per election. An additional $45 (for Chief Judges) and $30 (for all other judges) will be compensated for attending a mandatory training session prior to the Primary Election.

Thank You

Thank you to those who responded to our Election Worker interest mailing. Those who have an email address should have received a confirmation notice after signing up on-line. We must now wait until the State Board of Elections gives us directives as to how the Maryland Early Voting process will be conducted. Once we receive their instruction we can begin assigning Election Workers. We do not expect to begin this process until probably May of 2010. Please feel free to visit this website for future updates.
