General Information

Caution. The entrance road to the landfill will be undergoing widening near Marriottsville Road. Watch for traffic control and construction crews when you visit. 

Howard County residents can dispose of trash and recyclable items at the Alpha Ridge Landfill. Residents using the landfill are required to show their driver's licenses as proof of residence in Howard County each time they enter.

Hours of Operation:

Monday - Saturday, 8 am to 4:00 pm (residential)
Monday - Saturday, 8 am to 3:30 pm (commercial)
Sundays - Closed

The landfill will be closed on the following holidays:

New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Directions:

From Route 29 north, take Interstate 70 west to exit 83. Keep right onto Marriottsville Road, the entrance will be on the left. The address is 2350 Marriottsville Road, Marriottsville, MD 21104.

Residents' Convenience Center

Residents using the Convenience Center are required to show their driver's license as proof of residency in Howard County. The convenience center accepts many items for reuse, recycling and disposal. Residents with brush or wood waste will be directed to the woodwaste drop-off area.

NOTE: Residents disposing of construction, demolition and home improvement material (C&D waste) will be directed to weigh in at the scalehouse and will be charged $65/ton ($3.25 per 100 pounds) of waste. This includes deliveries mixed with household waste.

Goodwill truck 2nd and 4th Saturday

Goodwill will be in the lower area by the gazebo from 8am to 3:30pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Donate used clothes, toys, housewares and small appliances to keep those good items out of the trash. Visit Goodwill.org for more information.
